Angola could be called the Latin side of Africa because of its people’s love for Latin music. They love to dance, and dancing a few steps with the locals would be the surest way of endearing yourself to them. Angolan people are known for their warm, friendly and easy attitude. It is said that the locals live their life like the salsa beat, fast and uniquely.
The stylised masks and trinkets sold in Angola lack any significant link to the deeper cultural undercurrents of the people. They have been created to cater to the Western tourist who looks for African art per se.
Portuguese is the official language spoken by a large number of Angolan’s. In the capital, Luanda, Portuguese is a commonly used language. In the less developed area of Angola, dialects such us Kimbundu and Kikonga, which originate from the language known as Bantu, are spoken.
