Angola Entertainment Guide

If you like eating out, then you won’t have to look too hard in Angola, because your options are very limited. Quality eating spots in the country are virtually non-existent. The best food can only be found in luxury hotels that have restaurants attached. Tables should be booked well in advance in the few restaurants and hotels. Notice needs to be given for extra guests. There are some nightclubs and cinemas in Luanda. Cinema seats should be booked in advance.

If you have a fetish for shopping, then Angola is not your spot. Shopping in the country is usually done at duty free shops, which means you get exactly what you would get back home. The largest handicraft market is the Futungo Market, south of Luanda. This is the main hub of the tourists and expats who come to buy what they call "African Art", which is largely stylized masks and trinkets. The market is open only on Sundays. You can also club in the beautiful beaches of Futungo and enjoy the sun and sand of Mussolo bay.

Water sports are available in the Mussolo Peninsula, south of Luanda. Swimming is great at Mussolo bay and fairly cold in Ilha de Luanda, Palmeirinhas and Ramiros. Fishing is good at Palmeirinhas and Santiago beach.

November the 2nd commemorates a holy day known as "all souls day". On this day, music bands and dance troops come together and have a big and colourful concert for the people. The head of state sets the ball rolling with a speech and then the celebration begins.
