Maseru, the capital of Lesotho, is a fairly new and expanding city, with an easygoing atmosphere and pace. Central Maseru still carries reminders of the British colonial era in its dilapidated, bygone buildings. The civil war of 1998 left the city deeply scarred but it is now on the mend. Maseru is a place only to explore briefly, to deal with bureaucratic necessities and stock up for a trip around the country.
