All visitors to Mozambique are required to have a passport that is valid for six months beyond the intended duration of stay. Apart from citizens of Malawi, all nationalities must have visas valid for entry into the country. Requirements for a visa are two passport photographs, a visa application form, itinerary stating intended destination and in the case of a business visa, a business letter. Visas usually take six days to process though the cost depends on how urgently it is required.
Visas issued can be business or tourist, single or multiple entry visas that are issued by Mozambique’s consulates and missions abroad. A single entry visa is valid for 30 days from date of issue and a multiple entry visa is valid for six months, though each entry is only valid for a ten-day stay. Extensions of visas are done at the immigration office of each province and can be acquired within two to three days.
Travellers to Mozambique are advised to carry certified copies of passport and all travel documents on their person all the time as officials may ask to see them at checkpoints.
