Best Time To Visit Namibia

By news desk on August 24,2007

Namibia is a pleasant destination the entire year round but the peak seasons for most visitors is mid-July to late October. The months between July and late October are ideal for game spotting in the national parks, particularly in Etosha, as the shallower water bodies dry up, the vegetation shrivels forcing the animals to the streams, water-holes and rivers.  The tail end of the year is peak season for winged visitors from colder climates, including flocks and flocks of flamingoes that arrive in anticipation of the coming rains that will fill the pans with enough aquatic feed for them all.

The time of the year to be avoided, if possible, is the Namib Desert during the summers and the entire country during the Namibian school holidays (April 25–May 25, August 15–September 5 and December 5–January 15). Advance bookings are absolute musts during the peak season and during the holidays when domestic travellers fill up the hotels. The lodges and rest camps in and around the national parks are booked from April for the season beginning in July/August.
