Nigeria Travel Document Guide

By news desk on August 27,2007

All nationals (except residents of ECOWAS countries) require visas to enter Nigeria. Visas are issued for a period of one month and remain valid for three months from the date of issue. Visas cannot be issued on entering the country. Make sure you get your visa from your own country, since most Nigerian embassies do not issue visas to individuals who are not nationals of the country in which the embassy is situated. If you are a British national, the cost of a Nigerian visa is prohibitive—US$214. Visa extensions are free and are easy enough to obtain for most nationals except UK nationals, who till recently were required to pay a fee and supply a letter from a Nigerian citizen vouching for them—please do check if this is still true. It is always wise to check updated visa requirements prior to travel.
