Reunion Island Tourist Safety Guide

The Reunion Island is a pleasant holiday destination with few dangers lurking in the shadows for unsuspecting travellers. Health wise, it is one of the few places in the region where health facilities are more than adequate with nine hospitals, outpatient clinics and competent medical practioners. While the French national health scheme applies to Reunion, full medical insurance is still recommended. Health and safety are really not major issues but riots and political rallies do turn violent at times. Crime is low and basic precautions serve travellers well.
