There are a number of elite restaurants that pamper the palate with their fantastic cooking. A meal in one of these exclusive restaurants would be fairly expensive. If you want to visit one of these swanky joints, jackets and formal wear is recommended.

There are a number of options for the budget traveller where food is not only cheap but also tasty.

Tipping: Around 10% - 15% of the bill, depending on the service you received. Certain places automatically add a gratuity of 10% - 15% - in that case you needn’t give a tip.

There’s plenty of activity even after the sun sets. Casinos, theatres, clubs, nightclubs are the regular nightly haunts of the Bahamians and tourists. Most restaurants have live music accompanied with dancing. If you want to taste some of the traditional Caribbean culture, visit one of theatres, an experience you’re sure to enjoy, as they are normally very good.

 

Shopping

The tourist oriented shops are located on and around Bay Street. There are a number of duty free shops where you can make some great purchases. Shops sell international brand names as well as local crafts and clothing. If you’re looking for souvenirs, browse through the local markets that sell unusual items that make interesting gifts.
