There are a number of flights that offer passage to surrounding islands. St. Lucia, St. Vincent, and Grenada as well as Venezuela in South America are easily accessible. Various companies also offer day tours to surrounding Islands. This is a good option if you’re interested in exploring the marine life of the Caribbean Sea.
An interesting way to tour the Island is by helicopters. Several local companies organize such tours.
By Road
Car Rentals: Driving around gives you flexibility, though you might question your decision when you tackle the narrow, winding roads of the Island! You can rent a car from any of the various car rental agencies located all over the Island. A local driving permit is required even if you have an international driving license. Usually, for a small fee the car rental companies can sort this out for you. Driving is on the left. It is also possible to rent bicycles and motorbikes.
By Taxis: Easily available around airports and major hotels, taxis are a reliable transport alternative. Even though the government regulates the rates, make sure you fix the fare in advance, as the vehicles are unmetered.
By Bus: Cheap and frequent, though the drivers seems to follow a schedule of their own, quite different from the official one! You have a choice of government run buses or private buses. The latter are usually confined to the urban areas while the former do venture into the rural areas.
