Getting Around San Juan: Transport Guide

By news desk on June 29,2007

Car Rentals:

Nothing can replace the flexibility and convenience of a private car. It’s however, not very safe to rent a car (check safety). There are a number of car rental agencies all over the city and prices are affordable. Foreign licenses are accepted for a month after which a national license has to be made. Driving around San Juan can however ensure a headache avoid driving during peak traffic hours. Driving is to the right of the road.

Buses:

In case you want to visit Old San Juan, the walled city overlooking the Atlantic Sea, there is a tourist service that runs around it. You also have the option of touring San Juan by the public transport system, which is definitely a cheap and safer but not very comfortable option.

Taxis:

These ‘run wild’ all over the city. Just hail one to go where you want to go. Alternatively you can request the your hotel to arrange for a taxi. Insist that the meter is used otherwise the driver may try to rip you off. The concept of sharing a cab is very common and probably a safer option as well.
