Like any another metropolitan holiday destination, San Juan has a number of swanky, upmarket restaurants serving a variety of cuisines including Puerto Rican cuisine. There are a number of small bars and restaurants that serve local cuisine that is mainly Spanish- based. Deliciously cooked food and fairly reasonable, you must try one of these little establishments. The streets are lined with cafes that serve pastries and coffee. Unless you plan to eat at any of the swanky restaurants, food is fairly inexpensive. During peak tourist season, it’s advisable to book in advance.
You’ll wonder when the locals sleep. The casinos and nightclubs hum with life till the wee hours of the night. Weekends are very active with the big hotels organising parties where everything from jazz music to old songs play. Make sure you carry your dancing shoes!
If casinos and nightclubs aren’t your scene them you could head for one of the numerous theatres to enjoy a bit of the vibrant Puerto Rican culture. If it’s a movie that you want to watch there are a number of cinemas that you can relax in.
