Getting Around Mongolia: Transport Guide

By news desk on September 10,2007

image

The easiest and most reliable way of getting around Mongolia is by hired vehicle - car or jeep, the latter being preferable, keeping in mind the rugged terrain. Vehicles can be hired in Ulaanbaatar and some of the other cities; and if you’re on your own, it’s economical to share a vehicle with a few others.

If you’re not of a particularly adventurous bent of mind, you could use the bus or train services within the countryside, but these are erratic, infrequent and usually unreliable, so be prepared. Within Ulaanbaatar, getting around is much easier as the capital has a fairly good public transport network, including trolleys, taxis and cars for hire.
