Getting Around Costa Rica: Transport Guide

By Air
Costa Rica is connected by two domestic airlines. These airlines provide links to most of Costa Rica. It’s advisable to book in advance. Bookings have to be made in Costa Rica itself.

By Road
The topography of the country is dissected by a network of good roads. Travelling between cities by car or bus is a viable option. Car rental services are available at the airport as well as in most cities. You have to be above 18 years to rent a car. You can also rent motorcycles by if you’re planning inter-city travels it’s best to hire a car. If you prefer to let someone do the driving you can hire a taxi. The public transportation system is reliable and cheap.
