Honduras Cultural Insight

By news desk on June 28,2007

The culture of Honduras extends all the way back to the Mayan civilisation. The landscape is peppered with monuments that have served as inspiration to many Honduran artists. The museum exhibits of artefacts dating back to that period form an intrinsic part of Honduran culture.

Literature in Honduras flourished in the Romantic period. Of late the trend in literature has shifted towards political oriented writing.

Music forms an important part of Honduran life. You’ll hear music if you’re travelling in one of the local buses, it’ll be blaring in the background while you’re relaxing on the beach and of course you’ll hear it pulsating in the bars and discotheques. Honduran beats appear to be a blend of Mexican, Guatemalan and Caribbean forms.  Rock music also has a popular following.

There are many soccer enthusiasts in the country and a soccer game ensures that the locals are glued to TV sets. Many open fields are occupied by youths running energetically after a ball.
