By news desk on October 22,2007

image

Shanghai is a port city, lying on the confluence of the River Yangzi and the Grand Canal. It is the capital of the Shanghai Shi municipality and falls in the East China Tourist Region. It is home to an enormous population, mostly migrant workers from the interior regions. Despite its size and population, it is fairly compact in its layout, and easy to get around.

Areas of interest to the tourist interest lie east of the Huangpu River and north of the Suzhou Creek. The main hub for tourists is Chenghuang Miao, a new touristy bazaar, mainly catering to the growing domestic tourist market.
