By news desk on October 19,2007

Festive extravaganzas are scattered rather liberally through the calendar year. The year begins with the Lantern Festival in January-February when shops, residences, restaurants, temples and streets are illuminated with beautiful lanterns.

The Hong Kong Food Festival follows this in March: the gourmet’s joy, the gourmand’s delight and the weight watcher’s nemesis.

April brings the Tao festival of Tin Hau when boats and barges sail down to Tin Hau temple praying for the blessing of clear weather and plenty of catch.

The Dragon Boat Festival in June is a spectacle of style, grace and furious rowing.

The Festival of Asian Arts is an art event of great importance. Held in October-November, it showcases some of the best art in the continent and is a festival of international proportions.
