Japan Custom And Duty Guide

By news desk on October 23,2007

image
On entry into Japan, you’re allowed to bring in up to 400 cigarettes (or 100 cigars or 500 gms of tobacco), three quarts of alcohol, 60 ml (2 oz) of perfume, and other items, which should not exceed a total value of ¥200,000. Certain items are not allowed into the country: firearms, narcotics and pornographic material are a very definite no-no, and if you’re caught with any narcotics on you, you can be detained by the authorities, deported, and even barred from re-entering the country. Some fresh vegetables, fruits, animals and plant matter are also not allowed into Japan, or you may require a special permit to bring them in.
