North Korea: Customs And Duty Guide

By news desk on October 24,2007

As is to be expected, narcotics, arms and ammunition, and pornographic or religious material of any sort are not allowed into North Korea. Any items, such as printed matter, which could be deemed `subversive’ (a list that includes books or papers about the country, printed in South Korea or the West) will most certainly be confiscated, and could get you into trouble. Mobile phones, binoculars and video cameras are not allowed into North Korea, and although there isn’t any restriction on the amount of currency you bring in, you’ll have to declare it, along with electronic items such as radios and cameras, when you enter the country. A reasonable amount of alcohol and tobacco for personal use may be brought into the country free of duty.
