North Korea Shopping Guide

Although North Korea has some excellent handicrafts such as silks, lacquerware and ceramics, they can be rather hard to get hold of outside Pyongyang, mostly because of the scarcity of demand. Items for daily use, such as basketry and pottery, are available at most markets, but don’t expect these to be of first class quality. For shopping, your best bet is the local hotel shop or one of the `foreign currency stores’ in Pyongyang, which basically cater to foreign tourists.
