South Korea is rapidly becoming a haven for shoppers. A number of large cities around the country, particularly Seoul, are full of smart shopping arcades, supermarkets and department stores where you can buy anything from traditional handicrafts to the latest electronics. Amongst the things to buy are ceramics, leather goods, silk, embroideries, antiques, brassware and jewellery. Designer clothing, sportswear, personal computers and electronics are also good buys - and you can find them in most shopping centres in Seoul and other big cities. The South Korean capital, especially, is known for the opportunities it offers avid shoppers: its main shopping districts are Myongdong, Itaewon, Insadong also called Mary’s Alley- known for its antique and art stores and East Gate, which is famous for its silks. There are also plenty of tax-free shops throughout the city and in other large cities as well and are a good place for visitors to shop in.
