Getting Around Taiwan: Transport Guide

All the major cities of Taiwan are connected by domestic airlines (there are seven of them), as well as by trains and express buses. Both trains and long distance buses can be quite convenient, and buses especially are fairly reasonable.

Within cities, buses and taxis can be used, but probably the most convenient way of getting around is to hire a car. There are a number of local and international car rental companies in the country, and hiring a car (with or without a chauffeur) isn’t too difficult.
