Getting Around Albania: Transportation Guide

Although Albania does have a railway network, it’s rather limited, and stretches only between larger cities like Tirana, Ballsh, Vlora, Pogradec, Fier and Shkodra. The bus network, however, is pretty good- there are regular state-run buses, which are generally frequent, economical and comfortable. Cars and private minibuses can also be hired, but keep in mind the fact that there are few petrol stations in the countryside, and cross country roads are also usually not in the best of conditions. Within cities, taxis, local buses and rent-a-car services operate.
