Kukes Travel Guide

Kukës isn’t full of old monuments, but it’s worth a visit, simply because it’s such a beautiful place. Set amidst the mountains (the peak of Mt Gjalica rises above the town), the town is near Lake Fierza, and is considered by many to be the most picturesque in Albania. The best thing is that it’s quite close to Tirana - about 100 km - and there are a number of buses and minibuses between the two towns. A day or two in Kukës can at least be very relaxing, if nothing else.
