By news desk on January 14,2008

Tirana is the largest city in Albania, with a population of over 320,000. It is the political, economic and cultural centre. The area around Tirana has been inhabited since the neolithic age. The fertile plain, rich forests and water that were available in abundance in the region influenced Tirana’s geographical location. The city is situated at the junction of the Adriatic and eastern Albania, in the valley of the Qafa e K‘rab‘s and the Shkumbin River in the Balkan Peninsula.
