Tirana Shopping Guide

By news desk on January 14,2008

image
Tirana’s markets have a good selection of handicrafts, as almost everything that is produced in the country- carpets and rugs, silverware, leather and woodwork- make their way to the capital. Tirana itself was known, in the 18th century, for its cloth, leather, silverware and pottery, and some of these crafts still survive. The city’s old bazaar has been around for centuries, although the new one, which is next to it, is also pretty good. Remember that bargaining is quite the done thing, and it’s expected that you’ll haggle for anything you want to buy.
