Sofia Travel Guide

By news desk on August 31,2007

Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, is one of the oldest cities in Europe- around seventy centuries old, with some of the most amazing sights to see in this part of the world. It’s a city with a chequered past ruled by the Ottomans, by the communists- and now  ruled by hordes of pleasure-seeking tourists.  And with good reason too.  Sofia offers, even though this may sound pretty clichéd,  something for everybody. The city has some of East Europe best architecture - beautiful cathedrals and mosques, including the famous Aleksander Nevski Cathedral, busy marketplaces and a vibrant nightlife, and even a ski resort - Mount Vitosha - right next door. Little wonder then, that tourists visiting Bulgaria don’t feel the need to go beyond the capital.
