Economic Overview Of Krakow

By news desk on January 16,2008

Krakow is one of southern Poland’s main industrial and commercial centres, besides being an important transport hub for road and rail routes in the region. The Polish economic system ranks Krakow as the fourth largest industrial city in the country.

The city trades in a vast range of products, of which the most prominent are agricultural produce, wine, timber, salt, livestock, zinc and coal. Many of these originate in the surrounding provinces, but Krakow itself is a manufacturing centre for a number of goods which are traded. The industrial products manufactured in Krakow include soap, tobacco, machinery and agricultural implements. The city’s main product, however, is iron and steel, which is produced at the Nowa Huta plant, one of the largest industrial complexes of its kind in Eastern Europe.
