Getting Around Warsaw

By news desk on January 16,2008

By subway

Warsaw’s subway is fast and still clean (it only opened in 1995). Trains are frequent and connect the southern suburbs to the city centre.

By car & cab

You could rent a car – more expensive, more luxurious definitely. Cabs in Warsaw are available everywhere, and are relatively cheap too. The meter presently starts at zt 3.6 and thereon its zt. 1.60 per mile. Hotels often have their own little cabs taking you around town, but these are more expensive.

By tram and bus

The cheapest way to get around the city is to use the tram and bus service. There is even a night bus network which runs between midnight and 4:30 am. Tickets must be bought in advance for these. A ride is about 1.4 zt.

By buggy

When we say that Warsaw is a city living in many different eras simultaneously, we have a good reason for doing so. You can transport yourself back in time and ahead in space quite speedily by renting one of these horse drawn carriages at the Old Town Market Square, and you’ll have a fun ride around the whole length of the Old Town area for just 1.60 zt.
