How To Reach Krakow

Krakow-Balice (John Paul II) International Airport is Krakow’s main gateway to the rest of the world. It’s Poland’s second largest airport and is connected by air to a number of destinations across the world, most of them in Europe. Although LOT Polish Airlines, with flights to around 40 foreign destinations, is the main carrier, there are other airlines too, which have flights to Krakow.

Krakow-Balice Airport is about 14 km from the city centre, to which it is connected by bus; coaches depart for the central railway station every half hour. Alternatively, you could take a taxi.  

By Train

Krakow’s central train station, the Dworzec Glowny, is served by a network of national and transnational trains. Domestic trains operated by Polish Railways, link Krakow to the rest of Poland, with high-speed Intercity trains going to and from the larger cities. In addition, Intercity and Eurocity trains arrive daily from Vienna, Prague, Budapest and Berlin.
By Road

Two major highways pass through Krakow: the E77 which stretches from Gdansk and Warsaw to the Slovenian border; and the E40, which connects Lviv in Ukraine to Dresden in Germany, passing through Wroclaw, Katowice and Krakow on its way. In addition, there’s a good network of motorways and secondary roads which link the town to other cities, towns and villages in Poland.

The Polski Express and the PKS are the two national bus services which operate along the Krakow routes. Buses from across the country, as well as from foreign cities such as Lviv, Berlin, Prague and Vienna, arrive daily at Krakow’s central bus station, the Dworzec PKS. Warsaw is about 5 hours’ journey from Krakow; Prague is about 9 hours away.
