How To Reach Warsaw

By news desk on January 16,2008

By air

International flights arrive regularly at Warsaw’s Okecia Airport, southwest of the city. Terminal 2 is where all the international flights arrive. Direct flights from many European cities, as well as American cities with major Polish population such as New York or Chicago, land here regularly.

To get downtown from the airport, you could rent a car or take the city-airport bus, which takes about 20 minutes and costs roughly 6 zt. Call 919 from the airport for a taxi.

By train

The Dworzec Centralny railway station is connected to trains from Western Europe. The station has a convenient location at the centre of town.
Call 022-6204512 for international train information.

By bus

Warsaw’s central bus terminal is at Aleje Jerozolimskie 144 and has buses coming from neighboring European locations. Contrary to what one might expect, buses can be as expensive as flying and are worth it only if you have discounted tickets.

By road

Getting there by road is steadily becoming a smart option, as Poland’s road connections are fast improving. But this mode is complicated by border delays and other problems due to political as well as natural reasons. When crossing from other eastern European countries, you can expect long border blockages and delays. Also, many former border routes to Germany and the Czech Republic have been closed since terrible floods damaged the area.

Once you get into Poland , you can use seven main access routes leading to the center of Warsaw, highways E30 and E 77 being the main routes from the West.
