Major Tourist Attractions In Romania

By news desk on September 04,2007

Get a quick fix on what’s hip and happening in Romania. Bucharest, capital of the country, coolest place in East Europe, seat of government used to be called the Paris of the East. It has brilliant sights, an electric nightlife, and lingering memories of the Soviet era and is the easiest to get a flight to. Constanta, the second largest city, is a colourful and vibrant seaport and Mamaia is one of the more popular tourist spots on the Black Sea Coast.

Starting with the stark modernity of Bucharest, you can venture on to the preserved natural charm of the Romanian Riviera. The beaches along the Black Coast have fast been developing into attractive but not too overcrowded resorts, and warrant at least a brief stay.

Transylvania – the land that lies beyond (trans) the woods (sylvania) – is famously the mythical home of Count Dracula. The major towns and cities in this region are Brasov, Sibiu and Sighisoara.

Check out Mangalia, literally, ‘the Gorgeous’.  Lying in the shadow of the densely forested Carpathians, shrouded in the mists of foggy winters, this region that makes up most of central and northern Romania, lures travellers with its medieval castles, musty legends and macho fortified churches.

If you want to get up close and personal with the Romanian lynx and the chamois, you can book a vacation in the dense wildlife sanctuaries in the Danube Delta.

For some metropolitan relief, you can always return to Bucharest and enjoy its attractive urban landscape, made up of modern buildings on the one hand, and imperial architecture from times past, such as the Bucharest Athenaeum, on the other.
