Getting Around Kiev

Kiev has a number of car rental agencies, but in most cases, it’s advisable to hire a chauffeur-driven car rather than a self-driven one. Traffic in Kiev can be hard to drive in, and for a tourist who isn’t used to the roads of the city, it’s easier to get someone else to do the hard work.

Alternatively, you could use the city’s public transport system. Kiev has an extensive network of trolleys, buses, and underground trains, which, between them, cover most of the city. The public transport system is also fairly inexpensive, and so is a good option for anybody who’s trying to economise. Long-duration passes for a week, a month or more can be purchased if you’re going to be spending a while in the city.

Kiev’s taxi service is convenient enough, though- obviously- not as cheap as public transport. Taxis may he hailed on the street or phoned for, by dialling 058. Kiev’s car owners also often act as impromptu taxi drivers, by taking on passengers, and a ride in a car will always be cheaper than taking a cab.
