Getting Around Heidelberg

By news desk on September 26,2007

image

Probably the most convenient way of getting around Heidelberg is by car - rent one from one of the rental agencies in town, get yourself a good map, and you can go where you want, when you want. Heidelberg has a number of car rental agencies, including Hertz and Avis, and a hired car is easily the best way of seeing the suburbs and some of the surrounding countryside.

If you’d rather use public transport, you have two options: taxi or bus. Taxis can be hailed on the street, phoned for or picked up from a cab rank, but they’ll obviously be much more expensive than taking a bus. The bus service within the city is economical and extensive, with a network that extends to outlying areas too, like the towns and villages along the Neckar River.
