Getting Around Leipzig: Transport Guide

By news desk on September 26,2007

image

One of the most convenient ways of getting around Leipzig is by car - hire one from one of the rental agencies in town, get yourself a map from the tourist office, and you can set your own pace. Alternatively, you could hire a taxi - there are plenty to be found in the city, at cab ranks and on the streets, where they can be hailed.

If your budget doesn’t quite permit luxuries like taxis or car hire, public transport is a good idea. The city has an extensive network of trams, buses and light railways, which cover nearly all of Leipzig and are a fast and economical way of getting around. If you’re going to be moving around a lot, you might like to get yourself one of the discounted travel passes- a 24 hour one, for instance- which makes things a lot more easy, and works out cheaper.
