Rotterdam Entertainment Guide

By news desk on October 09,2007

image

Rotterdam’s image as a bustling, cosmopolitan city means that it offers a wide range of dining possibilities, extending all the way from cheap and filling food at the roadside eetcafés to haute cuisine at elegant speciality restaurants. The more upmarket restaurants are mainly in the city centre, while the most popular eetcafés are in the vicinity of Niuewe Binnenweg and Oude. Dutch delicatessens abound and there are lots of eateries that serve Indonesian and Chinese, Indian, African and Italian food.

As far as entertainment is concerned, there’s a surfeit of it in the many bars and pubs in town. Here you can sip jenever and listen to jazz, rock or whatever else happens to be the rage in town. Rotterdam has many discotheques and nightclubs, cinemas, theatres and other venues where performances of music, drama and dance are held almost throughout the season. For more details on what’s happening in town, pick up a copy of Inside Out (it’s available in most cafés) or contact the local tourist office for a cultural calendar.
