Ponta Delgada Entertainment Guide

By news desk on October 16,2007

image
Ponta Delgada has a fair share of supermarkets and shopping malls. Local art produced all over the Azores Islands inevitably finds its way to the shops that line the streets of Ponta Delgada. You can pick up souvenirs like straw or cloth dolls, pottery and wickerwork, embroidery, furnishings, jewellery and clothing. Visit one of the local food markets for wines, cheeses, canned tuna, passion fruit liqueur and pineapples. Most shops in Ponta Delgada open from 9 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday with a break from 12.30 to 2 pm and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturdays. Large shopping centres and supermarkets usually stay open from 10 am to 10 pm seven days a week.
