Madeira Islands Hotel Accommodation Guide
Although the Madeira Islands offer a wide range of tourist accommodation, much of it- especially at the upper end of the scale- is concentrated in Funchal. The capital city’s literally swarming with luxurious five- and four- star hotels. Other than the deluxe hotels, there are local villas and quintas (manor houses), both worth staying in if you want to live it up in traditional Madeiran style. For travellers who’re watching prices, the best options are the apartment hotels, self-catering resorts, B&Bs and budget hotels which dot the two isles. In addition, there are two camp sites- one in Porto Santo and the other in Porto Moniz.Whether your budget category is luxury or economy, it’s a good idea to book rooms in advance during the summer, when rooms can be very scarce indeed.
