Slovenia Travel Document Guide

Nationals of Bosnia-Herzegovina can stay for up to 90 days in Slovenia as transit or short-stay passengers, without a Slovenian visa. Similarly, nationals of the Russian Federation, Turkey and Macedonia can spend up to 10 days in Slovenia without a visa. Other than these `favoured nationalities’, citizens of the EU, Canada, USA, UK, Japan, and a number of nations in South America, East Europe and East Asia do not require visas for stays of up to 90 days. A visa, obtainable from the Slovenian consulate or embassy in your country, is essential for all other nationalities.

Even for those who do not need visas to enter Slovenia, a valid passport is required. Citizens of the EU, Croatia or Hungary need not possess a passport; a valid  EU card/ national identity card is proof enough.
