Popular Tourist Activities In Bahrain

Many water sports facilities are available in the lovely waters of the Gulf states such as swimming, game fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing and para sailing, or simply laze around or picnic in the glorious beaches of Al Jaza’ir and Az Zallaq.

There is an 18 hole sand golf course at Awali, where Bahrain’s Open Golf Championship is held annually. Horse racing and camel racing are favourite pastimes and the Equestrian and Horse Racing Club at Awali is well patronised. Bahrain has one of the world’s finest collections of pure desert bred Arabian horses.

Mountaineers can climb the Jebel Al-Dukhan, the highest point in Bahrain- 135 m (443 ft). A popular desert sport is mountain biking but do remember to carry lots of water, a map and a compass. If you want to stay indoors your options are skating, bowling and snooker tables.
