Major Attractions In Doha

By news desk on July 06,2007

While Doha is a fairly bland collection of whitewashed buildings with some greenery interspersed, there are some sights to see if you happen to be there. The National Museum, housed in a former palace, exhibits interesting historical and Bedouin displays. It includes an aquarium, gardens and sea exhibits. The Ethnographic Museum offers a good glimpse of what life was like before the oil boom.
Other sites around town include a clock tower, zoological gardens, Qatar University (a warren of modular buildings), the Al Kout fort, the city’s traditional bazaars and more than 260 mosques (the multiple-domed Grande Mosque is, in fact, the grandest).

End the day with a walk along Doha Bay’s oceanfront corniche - it's pleasant and colourful with dhows, yachts and ships floating side by side.
