Cleveland International Film Festival : With a regular program of documentaries and foreign films, it brings otherwise unseen works to the public arena. A family series, an independent films series and a program featuring special events add to the range of creativity.
Well-received by the city, the festival looks for innovative techniques and narratives. The films are continually broad in their influences although they can be quite pointed in their message.
Cleveland Marathon and 10 K : Held each spring in late April or May, this event takes advantage of beautiful weather and never fails to yield a great turnout. Thousands of hard-core marathoners attend and both races attract elite athletes.
Cleveland Shakespeare Festivals : A young event, the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival has attracted record-breaking crowds. Plays such as "Henry V" and "Midsummer Night's Dream" are performed by a troupe of first-rate thespians with authentic and elaborate stage sets.
Great Lakes Theatre Festival : This well-received theater focuses on classic drama selections. Pieces range from Shakespeare to contemporary works to elaborate musicals.
Winter Expo : In January, the Metroparks are dusted with white, and people from all sections of the city meet to enjoy fresh air and every form of outdoor winter sporting activity. Locals say that when the snow falls, this series of parks is a beautiful sight. The Expo usually takes place on a single day, generally Sunday.
