Driving is easy in Helsinki – just remember there is no free parking available anywhere in the city. So be prepared to pay for parking your car at metered parking spots or in garages. Taxis are easily available but are an expensive proposition. The phone number for taxi service is 700 700
Buses, trams, local trains and subway systems are well organized and economical. The best way to get around the capital’s museums and parks, do some free sightseeing, ride unlimited on the public transport system, and enjoy some other great discounts is to get yourself a Helsinki Kortti (Helsinki Card). You can also go for the cheaper Helsinki City Transport tourist ticket.
If you want some scenic boat rides through the city, then you can take the regular boats that go from the Market Square South Harbor to Helsinki Zoo.
In general, the heart of Helsinki is built on level ground and is ideal for exploration by foot. If you want to conserve your energy for something else, however, or want to venture forth into the city’s outer limits and attractions, get off those feet.
