By news desk on September 13,2007

Iceland is a signatory of the Schengen agreement, and rules pertaining to travel restrictions and documentation are governed by the agreement. Nationals of most countries need a passport and a visa to visit Iceland. Visa exemptions include nationals from member EU countries, USA, Canada, Japan, Britain and Australia. Passports valid for at least 3 months after the date of departure are mandatory for all except those from Schengen countries for whom a national ID card will do. Nationals of the Scandinavian countries, travelling from there, are also exempt from passport requirements. Most visitors are required to have a return ticket.Others should check with Icelandic embassy in their country. If there isn’t an Icelandic embassy in your country, contact the Danish embassy; Icelandic consulates are not equipped to process visa forms.
