Norway: Tourist Health And Safety Guide

By news desk on September 14,2007

Norway doesn’t pose any particular health risks- all you need to do is be well-clad, and avoid drinking water from fiords or mountain streams- they may look crystal-clear, but they’re likely to give you a bad belly ache at best.

Fortunately, Norway’s doctors are quite competent, and nearly all of them speak English. Remember though, that chemists are not allowed by law to sell medicines against a foreign prescription, so if you’re on medication, bring along adequate supplies- along with your doctor’s prescription. It’s advisable to get medical insurance done before you start your trip.

All across Norway, the telephone number 113 may be dialed, 24 hours a day, in case of medical emergencies.
