Liverpool Travel Guide

The seaport of Liverpool, in the Northwestern English county of Merseyside, lies about 336 km from London, along the Liverpool Bay, on the bank of the Mersey River. The city of Liverpool, thanks to its location by the sea, and its excellent harbour, has been known for years altogether as one of England's premier ports - a major centre of trade and commerce. In recent decades, of course, Liverpool has won international recognition because of its famous sons - the `Lads from Liverpool', the Beatles.

Beatlemania still runs high in Liverpool, and many music-crazy fans make a pilgrimage to the city. However, Liverpool also has a lot to offer tourists who aren't mad about the Beatles- the city's shopping districts are chockfull of good buys, there's lots of entertainment, and there are beautiful Georgian monuments all across the city- including the lovely cathedrals of Liverpool- which make a visit to this place a rewarding one. It's also just a hop, skip and jump to the beautiful and yet relatively unspoilt Isle of Man, and the neighbouring city of Wirral, with its own attractions (again, good architecture) is also nearby.
