Liverpool is quite a vibrant city, and pretty cosmopolitan too, and that is reflected in the food you get to eat. The city’s got loads of restaurants (ranging from haute cuisine to fast food and colas), and you can eat, if you really want to, fairly well in about a £2 or 3. What’s good is that a lot of international cuisine- European, Oriental, American, Mexican and the like- is also now being served in Liverpool’s eateries, so even if you start feeling frightfully homesick, you’ll generally be able to find some place to eat.
Liverpool is one of those cities where entertainment isn’t hard to come by. Most popular, considering the fact that this was the home of the Beatles, and most of the tourists who visit the city come solely because of the group, is rock and roll. Most pubs- especially the larger ones- have music of some sort, and many have live bands too. There are lots of nightclubs, discotheques and restaurants, and plenty of venues where regular concerts are held.
Other than that, theatre and cinema are also well-liked. Liverpool has two main venues for theatre: The Everyman Theatre (extremely popular), and The Playhouse which is England’s oldest repertory theatre. The Empire, The Neptune, and The Royal Court are other venues where productions- local and imported- are regularly staged. The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra also presents performances at the Philharmonic Hall- which just goes to prove that Liverpool has something to offer, other than the Beatles.
