London: Tourist Entertainment Guide

If you didn’t know London would titillate your taste buds - maybe its time to get educated. This is truly the gastronomic capital of the world. It has not only an amazing range of cuisines to offer the traveler, but also has some of the most innovtive and funky places to eat.

The choices are seemingly endless - you can try some gourmet French nouvelle cuisine or go for a tangy Greek salad, have some spicy chicken tikkas in an Indian restaurant or taste the delights of the Orient in a Thai, Korean or Vietnamese restaurant. Sushi bars, Italian Pizzerias and Jewish kosher delicatessans are to be found around any corner. No matter the dimensions of your wallet, you will not go hungry or dissatisfied in London. From the exquisite restaurants offering six course dinners at the Savoy and the Claridge’s, to the sumptuous and economical London "pub lunch" - which often costs as little as 7 pounds for a platter of the most hearty and innovative flavors; from classy and exclusive little places by the river to take away pizza places; from thematic and popular Balti eateries to the dim sum lunch at Chinatown - the choice is yours , and a tough choice it is too!

Welcome to Entertainment Mecca.

London almost has a monopoly on the arts - with more theatres than New York and more operas than Paris itself, this city is Entertainment unlimited. On any London night, you will be faced with choices ranging from classical music concerts at the Barbican Arts Center to Shakespeare’s comedies in the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

For something more relaxed, you can check out the Jazz music scene in London - which is exploding at the moment. With live jazz joints like Ronnie Scotts and the Jazz Café, you will have your feet tapping in no time.

But if you really mean business, you can gamble all the way to Gibraltar in the classy casinos of Mayfair, huddled along the Colony Club area. You can only enter, however, if you’re a member or a guest. But worry not - to become a member you just have to fill out a form, dish out about 30 to 40 pounds and be suitably attired. Once you’ve qualified, you’ll be full fledged citizen of Casino City.

As far as the party scene goes, it doesn’t get more happening than in London.

From rave clubs to classy nightclubs such as Ministry of Sound and Blue Note, you can party your rear end off ( and shed a few kilos on the side too).

But London is London, and the hotspots keep changing with the winds because this city needs a new act to keep things hot. So check out guides like Time Out to find out where exactly the house will be coming down that night.
