In Armenia, Entertainment is spelt with a BIG "E". The natives here love any opportunity to live it up. Concerts, folk & traditional dances, music shows are a perennial activity. Otherwise they’ll be busy with Mother’s Day and Beauty Day on the 7th of April. Good Friday is one long weekend of celebration and merriment. This in turn leads to Easter and all its surrounding activity. Eggs are boiled and dyed brown. If you can manage to save your own but crack another’s, Armenians say your wish will be answered.
9th May, Armenians celebrate Victory Day, World War II veterans walk through the town with crowds milling around them. Traditionally small children would give them a nosegays and a kiss while the older lot offer them konyak (local brandy) or vodka. Depending on which town you happen to be in at the time there might be a cultural show to entertain the veterans and townsfolk. One day in June is Water Day. Young children catch the adults unawares and drench them – of course as soon as the adults turn around to soak the children the place is amok with shrieking, scampering tykes. All through summer weekend celebrations, music and dance events are common in almost every town along with crafts and food fests.
