Most people visiting Belarus are still edgy about Chernobyl and it’s aftermath. The concern is not out of place if you consider that the reactor is just 12kms south of the Belarussian border and that winds blew the noxious materials in the northerly direction for six days after the explosion. But remember that was 14 years ago. Today an area of about 1200 sq. km north of Chernobyl stands evacuated completely.
