A good selection of local and international cuisine is available in restaurants. In small towns, restaurants serve good local food. It is worthwhile to remember to avoid mushrooms and berries that may contain radioactive material as a result of the Chernobyl debacle. Food is inexpensive, doesn’t matter which grade of restaurant you are dining at.

Brest is renowned for its puppet theatre. A thriving nightlife exists with operas, circus, ballet, theatre and puppet theatre. Bars and cafes usually close by 8pm in Belarus. Soft drinks, fruit juices and mineral water are widely available in restaurants and local shops.
